How To Be A Commisioner / Photos Of The Mission / Home

May the Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of the Father and the Holy Spirit always be with you. My name is Father Dr. Jose Mena, Catholic Priest and Medical Doctor working in the vicariate of Bluefields, Nicaragua, Central America.

This is a region of Nicaragua which has been abandoned by all the different governments and authorities. Consequently, it is is plagued by diseases, lack of resources, high infant mortality rates and extensive poverty. My mission is to work with the Indian people, such as the Mizquito, Zumo, Rama, etc. who inhabit this area and are living in the poorest conditions that I have ever witnessed in my life.

In working to serve these Indigenous People of this area I have identified many problems in the area that my parish covers. There are 85 different communities living with problems such as no potable water, no sewage, multiple illnesses in childhood and adolescence and a high level of infant mortality due to tuberculosis, pulmonary diseases, malaria, etc. Also, there is a significant lack of skills pertaining to effective agricultural methods; consequently the people cannot exceed their meager standards of living.

This region of Nicaragua has been effectively abandoned by all the different governments and authorities. During the short time I have served as pastor to my church I have engaged in the construction of 17 small chapels, with their own school buildings, potable drinking water, and black water sewage drains. We are striving for much more, and my intentions are the following:

  1. To find parishes or people with good intentions that will donate to the mission. The San Pablo Mission INC. is a non-for-profit corporation with tax exemption number. If you give any contributions they will be exempted from taxes in the United States.
  2. I will accept donations of all used articles of clothing, electrical devices or whatever items you wish to donate. You can send the donations with a letter listing the articles being sent to:

  3. San Pablo Mission INC.
    Iglesia Santa Teresita
    Bonanza, Zelaya, R.A.A.N
    Nicaragua
    Central America.
  4. I will accept any program that will improve the conditions of the Atlantic region of Nicaragua. Furthermore, any University project will be welcomed to help the people improve their socioeconomic state.
In conclusion, all donations are welcomed. I will be anxiously awaiting the replies to these petitions and I pray that I can obtain a sister parish or brother organization that can adopt me as part of their family. And with what is left over, you can do good will to these people of the North Atlantic region of Nicaragua.

In the name of our Father Lord Jesus Christ, I send my most fraternal blessings and wishes of well being and prosperity to all who read this plea.
