This is a region of Nicaragua which has been abandoned by all the
different governments and authorities. Consequently, it is is plagued by
diseases, lack of resources, high infant mortality rates and extensive
poverty. My mission is to work with the Indian people, such as the Mizquito,
Zumo, Rama, etc. who inhabit this area and are living in the poorest conditions
that I have ever witnessed in my life.
In working to serve these Indigenous People of this area I have identified many problems in the area that my parish covers. There are 85 different communities living with problems such as no potable water, no sewage, multiple illnesses in childhood and adolescence and a high level of infant mortality due to tuberculosis, pulmonary diseases, malaria, etc. Also, there is a significant lack of skills pertaining to effective agricultural methods; consequently the people cannot exceed their meager standards of living. This region of Nicaragua has been effectively abandoned by all the different governments and authorities. During the short time I have served as pastor to my church I have engaged in the construction of 17 small chapels, with their own school buildings, potable drinking water, and black water sewage drains. We are striving for much more, and my intentions are the following:
San Pablo Mission INC. Iglesia Santa Teresita Bonanza, Zelaya, R.A.A.N Nicaragua Central America. In the name of our Father Lord Jesus Christ, I send my most fraternal blessings and wishes of well being and prosperity to all who read this plea. |
